It should come as no surprise that the soda industry is not too happy. As the sales of soda have been decreasing, Coca Cola started a new ad campaign that stated that diet soda, containing the artificial sweetener aspartame is a safe alternative to regular soda. We all know that this is the further thing from the truth!
Coca Cola then released a study that stated diet soda drinkers lost weight faster than those who didn’t drink any soda at all. Spoiler alert: The study was industry funded… and received a lot of criticism (most likely because it isn’t true).

research showed that diet drinks promote heart problems and animals fed
artificial sweeteners develop a disrupted metabolic response to real
