What about Low T?

Standard

If the television and magazine ads are to be believed, then every American man suffers from “low T”. But don’t worry, there is a solution, or that’s what the pharmaceutical companies will have you believe. They offer so many hormone treatments, but they aren’t without the risks and side effects. These side effects can even include heart disease and pulmonary embolism.

I am sure you’ve been acquainted with me long enough to know what I’m going to say next… There are natural ways to boost testosterone! But first lets talk about some of the signs that your testosterone is actually declining.

As a man ages testosterone naturally declines. This is only worth nothing in younger men, and these signs include insomnia, low libido, weight gain, low energy, and trouble concentrating. These symptoms can devastating.

So how can we naturally address the issue?

Lose weight. While not al cases of low T are related to being overweight or obese, many are. In these cases, weight loss is a no-brainer!

Along the same lines of weight loss, we have exercise. Weightlifting and short bursts of springing have been shown to increase testosterone.

Stress management. This includes quality and quantity of sleep. Fun fact: Testosterone increases as sleep increases, up to 9.9 hours. Once awake, testosterone increases…. see where I’m going here? Get a good night of quality sleep!

Eat those greens! Come on, you had to have known that at some point I was going to bring up a nice healthy diet! It’s all about those cruciferous vegetables.

If you suspect that you have “low T” contact your functional medicine specialist. They can provide testing and get you on track to feeling like you’re 25 again… well maybe 35.
