There is new research that has been published in the American Journal of Psychiatry that links certain nutritional supplements to the efficacy of antidepressants for people who suffer from clinical depression.
Researchers examined 40 clinical trials along with other evidence of nutrient supplements that are used along with antidepressants to help with clinical depression. They found that fish oil, SAMe, folate, and vitamin D all increased the efficacy of the antidepressants.
The greatest increase in efficacy was seen with taking a fish oil supplement. This should come as no surprise as we have previously shared research that shows how fish oil benefits overall brain and cognitive health. Depression is an unhealthy state of the mind, so it makes sense that fish oil, along with medication, can be a great help!
While there are millions of people who are taking antidepressants, there are many who have never been told about taking nutritional supplements to help increase their benefits.
Also, consider natural alternatives to antidepressants.
